dam the father knocked both of their mother's up. The chances of that are low. You would have to actively be living that double life. For him to be teaching Aono violin as a kid and dedicating that time at the same time as seeing someone else. What a scumbag.

Aono was ready to punchout the other guy. Dude reminding him his father is a deadbeat who left his mom and let them fend for themselves against paparazzi and had to raise Aono by herself and her single income

Krazy_Kirby • 9 months ago

or he was on tour, and hooked up with women while touring.

Masumi • 9 months ago

That would be my guess. Doesn't look like he ever came back to see Saeki.

In the end, the dad did both of them dirty, and hurt both of their mums. I hope they can make up.

Most likely

JDC • 9 months ago

at least the story didn't turn out to be a bro and a sis that fell in love and accidentally found out later on. This is rather wholesome by that other possibility.

sol666 . • 9 months ago

Nah! thats a star war schtick!

Reminds me of my Dad one time when he got dead drunk, he is casually telling in front of my sister that he bang one of our relatives 😂 Dunno it might be true since that relative aunt he slept with actually a bitch. She have kids but she plays ppls for money and getting favors with them. 🤣

Satoshi Ookami • 9 months ago

I'm pretty sure he didn't live double life.
He probably visited Germany once, got Saeki mama pregnant, came back like nothing happened, living 13-14 years, raising Aono and then all of a sudden someone dug up the scandal and everything started going to shit for Aono family.

Father is straight up asssbum. A straight up trash. All hommie Eff the wh*re father!
Aono really has major mental trauma about his dad. That dad straight up Effer.

Ruvion • 9 months ago

timing is everything...and that was the wrong time to drop a bombshell like that on Aono with everything he's already been dealing with...

Nerdcatlady • 9 months ago

I agree about the timing, most certain, that moment was wrong. l guess Saeki didn't know when it was appropriate or how to say such shocking news but it still felt so unfair when Aono threw him out, because we don't know what Saeki has been dealing with too, after learning who his father was.

I don't think he had an easier time or was in a better psychological state than Aono while he knew that this scumbag Ryuuji, had a double life, therefore he never treated properly to either of the 2 families he made.

It's not Saeki's fault that they're brothers to snap at him, I get his anger and confusion but still, I think Aono should have a little more patience and empathy to not stop him but listen to whole Saeki's story and then decide what to do.

Ruvion • 9 months ago

I think he just felt since Aono was sharing his feelings that Saeki felt it would be ok for him to share as well and get the burden off his chest. It's a perfectly normal thing to do so I don't blame him, however, Aono is a bit too self centered and doesn't seem to be mature enough to understand things from others. It's understandable considering everything he's been through in life so far. I think this will be the thing that allows both characters to move forward and grow both as people, friends (brothers) and musicians.

A-chan • 9 months ago

maybe it's because i already read the manga or maybe just because i understand what both of them are feeling
.
aono hates his father so much that he practically blames all things to him and hating all and everything about him
.
and saeki feeling guilty cause he thinks he's the reason of the infidelity. which of course no, their dad is an ass.
.
and they are just starting highschool which their age about 15 yo?
LIKE WHO TF HAVING MATURE THINKING AND KNOW WHEN OR WHERE U SHOULD TELL WHEN U ARE FIFTEEN. FREAKING 15 YO. well maybe you have (or haven't) but ofc 15 yo still has that childlike thinking. plus he's being overwhelmed with the guilt.

Nerdcatlady • 9 months ago

I know plenty, in worse cases who are pretty mature at their 15 since I work with kids. At their 15 they're clever enough for other things, as well for having some self control, you don't have to be mad, why the attack.. Anyway, I didn't say anything about his maturity or blamed anyone other than the father. 🤷‍♀️ I just said in my opinion, he could as well act differently. Why misunderstanding my words, I already said that I get his frustration, I just didn't like his behavior, I didn't even say that he was wrong or anything.

Masumi • 9 months ago

Who knows... Aono might need to actually process his feelings about his dad in order to find whatever sound he apparently use to have. And claim it for himself.

Kurogiri • 9 months ago

Saeki purposedly chose to talk in the music room since it's soundproof and he knew Aono would freak out. Nice plan

Maka Evans • 9 months ago

The two were, for better or for worse, connected through the violin: it's what they share in common with Ryuji and they also shared the love to hear him playing it... I hope the media don't find out about this and ruin their lives again and the orchestra they finally started to love and share... can't wait for the music this two can make from now on!

pekinchikenwing • 9 months ago

Aono Ryuji is a total scumbag. So he got another woman pregnant at the same time as his wife. And knew all along he had another son. And then went back to cheat again with that son's mom 13 years later when the boys were in middle school. What trash. I think we all guessed something connecting Saeki and Ryuji last ep. I guessed his mom was involved with him, but didn't think he'd be his son. Once they showed he grew up in the apartment in Germany with his single mom then I guessed he must be his son. Honestly though I can't fully understand why that's even written in this story. The story is about a boy and his struggles to go back to the violin he loved while being conflicted due to his absent father and the havoc he wreaked on his family. But why add in another kid this far in the show, and why make it his classmate? Very unrealistic and also just odd. Is the goal of the writer just to make Aono-kun hurt? It doesn't make the story any better in my opinion. But I guess every writer's idea of good story conflict is different

Alice • 9 months ago

Well, there's a possibility that Ryuji didn't know about Saeki. That could be a reason why he came back to his mother so suddenly after all those years - maybe only then he learned that he had another son and that's why he came back. But yeah, still a total scumbag anyway. Even his character design is very douchebagy.
"But why add in another kid this far in the show" - well, Saeki was introduced early in the story, so it's not like the reveal was some deus ex machina plot twist. It does make sense story-wise. Yes, I agree that Aono's conflict between his love for violin and hate for his father is the main focus of the story. But the rivalry between Aono and Saeki is the another important plot that was slowly developing since their first meeting. Saeki being Aono's half-brother ties those two plots together very neatly. It would be unrealistic if they became classmates by pure chance and only later discovered that they're related, but it wasn't the case. Saeki came back to Japan to find Aono and that's why they ended up in the same school.

pekinchikenwing • 9 months ago

"It would be unrealistic if they became classmates by pure chance and only later discovered that they're related,"

Actually, that would be way more realistic as that actually happens to people. Dad's been having kids around the town, the kids learn in school via some similarities in family friends or many times in rumors in school, they are related.

Leo Aestron • 9 months ago

But, there's truly such a thing as "coincidence"
So, I wouldn't say it is unrealistic.
Just a bizzare situation.

pekinchikenwing • 9 months ago

Well, the thing about bad and lazy writing, is everything the writer wants just happens to conveniently happen by 'coincidence'. That's what makes it lazy. Saeki hunting down Aono to meet him wasn't even a coincidence though, just incredibly unrealistic. Who has the money to just up and move to another country. A single parent home in a small German city? Unlikely

Leo Aestron • 9 months ago

But he has a grandma at Japan.

pekinchikenwing • 9 months ago

I think it's a lame plot device and honestly pretty uninspiring. His rival is actually his half brother. There were so many other more interesting conflict elements they could've used here. It's just an easy way to tie them together when otherwise they'd just be two regular high school friends/rivals. Lazy writing.

Saeki was introduced as a rival yes. Being his brother was introduced with literally zero foreshadowing up until like one episode back. There's nothing realistic about a kid raised in Germany by his German mother with barely any interaction with his Japanese side, to move to Japan, communicate with near fluency in Japanese, find his half-brother, enter the same school as him, enter his close friend group, and then make the big reveal. Feels more like a fairytale. It would've been more realistic if Saeki had been more vocal about his interest in getting close to and learning about Aono. And Aono maybe wondered why and felt it was weird over many episodes. That would at least make sense. I mean, this is your newly found family and instead your first few interactions are as rivals and being annoyed with each other, not like someone who knows a secret and is trying to hide it. Just very lazy writing...

It's like, hey we're having fun at school, boom I'm your brother. What's next, actually, our dad has many children. Actually, Aono you were adopted at birth. Lol. No setup at all

ramenmen • 9 months ago

what's unrealistic is newspapers making it a big deal.

BunnyLuvr • 9 months ago

Oh, but it is realistic. Whatever juicy details news people can find on famous people, they WILL use it. No matter how minute it is. Just like what Aono went through, it usually destroys internal ties between family members, sadly. You can check many famous people in Hollywood with that kind of experience happening to them

Aono acting like a piece of shit fr. Most likely Saeki's family went through the same shit as yours did and you decide to take out your frustration on him when he literally has nothing to do with your dad being a scumbag.
